July, you weren’t really nice.

At the beginning of the month, I wrote an ode to July — asking the month to play nice and not cost a price. But what did July do, July ignored my ode. Or so it seems, when I think back to the seventh month of this year.

It feels like an oxymoron of a month given the good and bads that happened. For one, I became little miss got COVID in 2022 (which is actually quite laughable; 3 vaccines later). Anyways, I overcame that (glory to God) & with it came an ignition to my writing persona — with love, Gbems. I mean, what else do you do when you are quarantined and have all your thoughts to yourself and the Holy Spirit lolll.

So therefore, I wrote up to TEN pieces this month! 10! which is like a record-breaking achievement for someone who isn’t particularly invested in writing.

This website, gbemos.com was also published this month. YAYYY! (Subscribe to my newsletter! Pls & TY)

And for some fun things I bought in July:

  • A white kindle; since I enjoy reading again + isn’t that what adults do? Read? I wished it was a Nintendo but I don’t have time for games + my brother said I’m too old for one — I cannot wrap my head around the fact that I’m approaching mid-twenties {cries in French}.

  • I also ordered British snacks from California {yeah I know, don’t judge me} because I have been craving particularly the Original Walkers Crisps which made me ask myself; isn’t this pregnant women behavior lolll.

Some books I’m reading/have read within the last month (I read multiple books at once so I don’t get fatigued):

  • Fragrant Melodies by Sarah Allison

  • Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas

  • The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss

  • The Defining Decade by Meg Jay, PhD

  • The Fiber Fueled Cookbook by Will Bulsiewicz, MD, MSCI

  • Anonymous by Alice Britt Chole

  • Digital Sketching by John Bacus

  • Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens [I need to finish this book to watch the movie!]

Well, I am looking forward to August! I’m sure this will be a more fun month. I complete my internship in a few weeks and will be sharing my experience. Also will get to see fam & friends as well as prepare for a new school year — I am so pumped to start the last year of grad school! The end feels so far yet so close but I already see myself with the two degrees. Keep me in your prayers for this last year because the last two semesters required therapy, tears, faith and lots of prayers.

I would write an ode to August but the last time I did that, you just read what happened.

Anyways guys, enjoy the remaining weeks of summer, wash your hands and stay safe! COVID and monkey pox are roaming the streets.

with love, Gbems
